List of Alabama High School Athletic Association championships


The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for junior and senior high schools in the U.S. state of Alabama. It conducts state championship competitions in all AHSAA-sanctioned sports. Mountain Brook holds the most team championships with 196 state titles, followed by St. Paul’s Episcopal with 189; UMS-Wright with 166; and Hoover with 141. Mountain Brook boys tennis (28) and girls tennis (33) hold the all-time state title records as individual boys and girls sports. Bayside Academy volleyball holds the consecutive record for AHSAA girls sports with 21 titles (2002-22). Grissom boys swimming and diving holds the consecutive record for AHSAA boys sports with 14 titles (1984-96).

Baseball

Since the tournament’s establishment in 1948, sixty-eight tournaments have been held with a total of 128 champions. The first being Ramsay and most recent first-time champions being Alexandria, Bob Jones, and Corner (2024). Fifty-five teams hold multiple state titles, with thirty-eight winning consecutive titles.

G. W. Long holds the all-time record with 17 titles.

The Vestavia Hills Rebels hold the most consecutive championships with 7 titles (1994-00).

Basketball

Boys

Since the tournament’s establishment in 1921, 104 tournaments have been held with a total of 179 champions. The first being Central (Birmingham) and most recent first-time champions being Georgiana, Hillcrest-Evergreen, and Mars Hill Bible (2024). Eighty-nine teams hold multiple state titles, with forty-six winning consecutive titles.

R.C. Hatch holds the all-time record with 10 titles (Tie).

Francis Marion holds the most consecutive championships with 4 titles (1988-91) (Tie).

Girls

Since the tournament’s establishment in 1978, forty-seven tournaments have been held with a total of 113 champions. The first being Jeff Davis, J.T. Wright, Sumter County, and Winfield and the most recent first-time champions being Good Hope and Jasper (2024). Fifty-nine teams hold multiple girls basketball state titles.

Lauderdale County holds the all-time record with 13 titles.

The Hazel Green Trojans hold the most consecutive championships with 7 titles (2018-24).

Boys

Since the tournament’s establishment in 1956, sixty-eight tournaments have been held with a total of fifty-five champions. The first being Murphy and most recent first-time champion being St. Michael Catholic (2019). Thirty-five teams hold multiple state titles, with thirty-one winning consecutive titles.

Scottsboro holds the all-time record with 18 titles.

The Randolph Raiders hold the most consecutive championships with 9 titles (2005-13).

Girls

Since the tournament’s establishment in 1973, fifty-one tournaments have been held with a total of forty-one champions. The first being Tuscaloosa and most recent first-time champion being St. Luke’s Episcopal (2022). Twenty-nine teams hold multiple state titles, with twenty-three winning consecutive titles.
