Infodumping

Infodumping

Infodumping is the action of supplying a large (typically excessive or unwieldy) amount of information at once. The term was first used in 1978 in the Proceedings of the Southeastcon Region 3 Conference 353.

Over time, the term was adopted in the context of literature (particularly within science fiction) as well as by the autistic community. In the latter, "infodumping" is understood as one element of autistic expression, particularly as it relates to their topics of interest.
