• Angela Gossow replaces Johan Liiva on vocals for Arch Enemy.
• Mr. Bungle play their final concert.

Deaths

• September 21 – Peter "Wildfire" Wittke, founding member and guitarist of Iron Angel, died from injuries sustained in a car crash.
